Veterans Cricket New Zealand Charitable Trust is proud to welcome Craigs Investment Partners as their first major sponsor for Veterans Cricket in New Zealand.
VCNZ is the official entity for Over 50s, Over 60s and Over 70s cricket in New Zealand and runs national tournaments for Over 50s and 60s. Age group cricket has grown very quickly in the last five years and NZ teams regularly play against Australian State teams and in more recent times the Over 50s played in the first World Cup of Cricket for the Over 50s in Sydney.
In announcing the Craigs Investment Partners sponsorship the Executive Chairman Neil Craig who himself is a committed cricket supporter said “it’s great to see that mature New Zealand cricketers across all age groups still aspire to don their whites and represent New Zealand against other nations while continuing to have fun both on and off the cricket pitch”. Neil wishes all the teams well in the various tournaments coming up in 2019/20.
VCNZ thanks Murray Brown for his assistance with working with Craigs to make this happen.
NZ representative teams will be participating in two World Cups of Cricket in 2020. The NZ Over 50s will be travelling to Capetown, South Africa in March to play against 11 other nations at their 2ndWorld Cup while the NZ Over 60s will be on the Gold Coast, Queensland in October for the inaugural World Cup against seven other nations.
The Chairman of Veterans Cricket New Zealand, Grant Baker commented “the support of Craigs Investment Partners is a great boost to the VCNZ as players self-fund themselves to all of the tournaments and sponsorship will ensure that all teams look smart when representing New Zealand”.
We have signed a three year deal starting immediately and sponsorship will assist:
VCNZ Over 50s team selected to represent New Zealand at the Over 50s World Cup in Capetown March 2020.
VCNZ Over 60s team representing New Zealand at the inaugural Over 60s World Cup scheduled for Oct/Nov 2020 in Queensland Australia.
VCNZ teams representing New Zealand at the Over 60s and Over 70s Australasian State Championships , which is held every November.
VCNZ National Over 60s Cricket Championship, which is held each year in February.
VCNZ Teams playing visiting international teams in New Zealand. (Australian Over 70s and South Australia Over 60s in 2020).
Clothing As part of the sponsorship arrangement VCNZ has agreed to subsidise the cost of blazers (50%) and provide a playing shirt, track suit top, cap and VCNZ tie to all players and managers in the teams to Adelaide and Albury/Wodonga.
See the attached proof for the tracksuit top and playing shirt. Dress shirts for players and supporters and shirts from the tournament will still be at players cost.
Blazers have all been ordered and are due mid September and the player clothing has also been ordered for delivery mid September. I also have NZ Black Cap shorts and caps for all players.
Helmets Compulsory Veterans Cricket Australia have advised that this years tournaments will likely have a compulsory helmet rule for batsmen, wicketkeepers and close in fielders. They expect to confirm this at the end of this month so watch this space. At our age it may be a case of sharing the cost of a few helmets for each team?
Hotel, transport Update All the rooms have been booked with breakfast each day and transport organised. Deposits have been made and final payment is late September, hence the need for your final payments to be in the VCNZ account in mid September. I will send each player their invoice for payment and payment details at the end of this month.
Over 60s World Cup in Queensland and 2020 Australian State Championships VCNZ has received confirmation that in 2020 the Over 60s Australian State Championships will be held in the Sunshine Coast, Queensland from 12 – 18 September.
The World Cup for Over 60s will also be held on the Sunshine Coast from 25 October to 11 November (18 days!!). So we will send two teams to the State Champs and from there select the team for the inaugural World Cup. Busy times for us all.
